TAIWAN's Yang Ming Transport narrowed its
second quarter net loss 90 per cent year on year to TWD445 million (US$14.7
million), a result drawn on revenues of TWD33.2 billion, an increase of 19.6
per cent.
"First half results show consistent improvement.
Coupled with a stabilised 2017 market, Yang Ming's internal efforts have helped
to grow its volumes and revenues substantially," said the company.
For the first half of 2017, Yang Ming's consolidated
revenues totalled TWD63.48 billion, while volumes totalled 2.28 million TEU, a
10 per cent year on year increase.
Yang Ming said it "has taken the initiative to
control costs and to develop a new strategy to optimise its financial
position" since last fall.
The carrier is also a member of the recently formed THE
Alliance, along with Hapag-Lloyd, MOL, NYK and "K"
Line.
