MOL has
announced plans to expand its NVOCC business under the unified
brand name, "MOL Worldwide Logistics."
Starting from April 1, the
Japanese shipping company appointed Michael Goh as the executive officer
for its product transport business unit. Under his leadership, MOL
Logistics (Japan) Ltd and MOL Consolidation Service Ltd will
collaborate to create the optimal combinations of transport modes and routes and
other value-added services to meet their customers' needs.
In July the company plans to
establish a new company in Hong Kong to act as the headquarters for the group's
NVOCC business. This new company will centralise marketing, procurement,
network operations and global account management, reported AJOT.
Under the new arrangements, the new
company, MLG and MCS will share a single cloud-based freight forwarding system
to control and manage all aspects of shipments from origins to destinations.
Also MOL Worldwide Logistics will
deploy "robotic process automation" (RPA) to streamline
routine data input tasks, improve data accuracy, boost labour efficiency,
reduce cost and implement real time cargo tracking by mobile using GPS devices
placed in containers.
