Hong Kong's OOCL advises shippers to submit customs entries earlier to avoid possible reduced or no service at Thamesport and Southampton.
"No-one at the UK Border Agency (UKBA) will be able to confirm the level of service until they see how many staff do not turn up for work," said the carrier in a statement to customers.
Members of the UKBA has warned its customers delays are likely to impact ports, airports and international rail terminals following a 24-hour strike action of the Public and Commercial Service (PCS) union.
PCS union spokesman said unless the government were prepared to back track on its decision to cut pensions to public servants it was likely to see further strikes in the autumn, of which millions more will join.
