LOGISTICS giant "DHL" has officially opened a new PHP40 million (US$850,000) logistics centre in Paranaque City in the Philippines that has been custom-built to serve the needs of key local industries and increase operational efficiency and ability to deliver flexible supply chain solutions.
The facility is close to the airport for exporters of technology products, close to the manufacturing zones of South Luzon for domestically fabricated parts and is said to have easy access to the business district of Makati and Taguig, where there is a high concentration of end-users.
As one of the largest DHL Supply Chain facilities in the Philippines, the 40,000-square-metre, multi-user facility at KM17 West Service Road has been strategically located along the South Luzon Expressway, which is described as being the conduit of the country's Makati Central Business District to the South Luzon export zones and manufacturing hubs.
"As we are moving nearer to our customers, we expect to shorten their transit times as well as boost their time-to-market capabilities," said DHL supply chain country manager Olive Ramos.
A company statement said that DHL Supply Chain will be developing a multi-user bundling or co-packing area within the facility to address the requirements of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and retail sectors.
"The facility is also ideal for healthcare sector customers since it has an area with compartmentalized rooms designed to provide higher security for high-value products and facilitates ease of installation of temperature-controlled rooms for temperature-sensitive items," said Ms Ramos.
The new DHL logistics centre is furthermore equipped with advanced inventory management systems, comprehensive security systems and CCTV cameras.
