[EN-LOG] "TransContainer" to Move 205,000 Tons of Pipes Over Next 12 Months

RUSSIA's TransContainer and Vyksunsky Metallurgical Plant at Nizhniy Novgorod have signed a contract for transport of steel pipe of large diameter of non-metallic coating, produced for Nord Stream underwater gas pipeline.
The cargo will be transported to Navashino, by Gorky Railway-Kotka (Finland) on specialised (model 13-9744) platforms of TransContainer, according to Russian Transport Daily Report.

In 2008-2009 the pipe for the Nord Stream project was moved in open rail gondola cars, which resulted in time-wasting difficulties in unloading.

In 2009, there was a trial shipment of 620 tons of pipes on 10 platforms by TransContainer. The platforms were specially equipped not to damage the coating of pipes during transportation.

The consignee, EUPEC, a French firm, laying gas pipeline of Nord Stream. The firm's representatives confirmed the suitability of platforms for this cargo as well as the perfect condition of delivered pipes.
