NYK LINE (North America) joins the ranks of a growing
number of ocean carriers exiting its chassis service it provides to customers
at Long Beach, Los Angeles, San Diego and Phoenix from May 1, 2014.
The carrier's exit is an efficiency drive to minimise environmental
impact of intermittent use of a large number of chassis that have to be stored
and moved.
This will lower total cost and develop greater
flexibility for the trucker. It also aims to reduce congestion turnaround for
its customers on the US west coast at marine, truck depot and intermodal rail
facilities.
