THE
International Air Transport Association's (IATA)
quarterly survey shows that airline cargo heads have reported growth in air
freight volumes over recent months.
The finding is consistent with freight data, the
resumption in growth in business confidence and world trade volumes. Fifty-six
per cent of respondents expected an increase in demand over the next year.
But cargo yields have declined at a slightly slower pace
in the second quarter compared to a year ago, but the outlook for the next 12
months has also improved, said IATA.
While 57 per cent of respondents said they expect no
change during the year ahead, an increasing proportion (31 per cent) believes
there will a rise in yields.
