SINGAPORE break bulk
company, RK Shipping and Trading Pte Ltd, is to launch a containership shuttle
service - Mandalay Straits Service (MSS) - linking Yangon, Myanmar, and Port
Klang, West Malaysia.
A company statement said it's the first container shipping service granted dual ports call at Yangon, covering the terminals Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT) and Myanmar Industrial Port (MIP).
At Port Klang, the service also offers dual calls at both Westport and Northport but the dual calls are subject to cargo volumes with each voyage's varied requirements.
MSS is poised for good loading due to the increasing container volume in this trade lane. Besides the usual container cargoes, there is an increasing trend of non-conventional container cargoes being converted into container carriage, the company said.
The maiden voyage will be carried out by the 1,100-TEU Dawei Star, but no dates have been set.
