Taiwan’s Evergreen
Marine reversed a
TWD1.93
billion (US$62. million) loss in the first quarter of 2014 into a 2015
quarterly profit of TWD1.86 billion (US$60 million) with revenues
rising 2.9 per cent to TWD35.3 billion.
Evergreen
said at a board meeting that the company has agreed to order 10 containerships
with 2,800 TEU of capacity for expansion and replacement of existing vessels.
Singapore's
Splash 24/7 reported the company may order as many as 20 ships of that size.
IHS Maritime
360 also reported the company introduced a new vessel for its Asia Pacific-Red
Sea service on April 14.
The 8,508-TEU
Ever Lyric was built by Taiwan's CSBC Corporation, and is bound for Evergreen's
Marine Corp introduced a new vessel for its Asia Pacific-Red Sea service,
replacing an older vessel.
"Comparisons
of such operational performance data reveal that this eco-friendly bow design
enables an L-type vessel to reduce fuel consumption by between 12 per cent and
21 per cent within normal sailing speeds," said Evergreen vice-chairman
Raymond Lin.
