HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has
christened its four of ten 13,208-TEU ships, the NYK Hercules, as the vessel is
being leased to Japanese shipping giant NYK.
The vessel along with its sister ships was ordered by
OOCL from Samsung Heavy Industries, and the naming ceremony was held on Geoje
Island in South Korea.
The NYK Hercules will be deployed on the LP4 service that
serves the Asia-Europe trade on the following port rotation: Ningbo, Yangshan,
Shenzhen-Yantian, Singapore, Suez Canal, Le Havre, Southampton, Hamburg,
Rotterdam, Suez Canal, Jeddah, Singapore, Shenzhen- Yantian and back to Ningbo
on a 77-day round trip.
The vessel features innovative designs and the latest
green technologies, including a sophisticated hull form and state-of-the-art
engine technologies to lower energy consumption levels and reduce emissions.
