NEW Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1) at Indonesia's
Port of Tanjung Priok has moved one
million TEU in 18 months since operations started.
NPCT1 attributed its success to
strong support from customers, shipping lines and cargo owners, as well as the
various stakeholders such as customs, quarantine, the port authority,
associations and local traders, reported Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
"We are proud to announce the
highest container loading and unloading productivity in Jakarta (28
box/crane per hour)," said president-director Makoto, noting
that NPCT1 has an annual capacity of 1.5 million TEU and can handle large
container vessels.
The container terminal has eight
super postpanamax twin lift quay cranes and 20 rubber-tyre gantry cranes, both
of which are electrically driven.
NPCT1 is the first phase in the
development of the expansion plan. Indonesian state-owned port operator owns
the terminal Pelindo II, Mitsui & Co, PSA International and NYK
Line.
