Hong Kong: One of Hong Kong containerline OOCL’s rising stars is set to take up the reins of the firm’s American operations. Erxin Yao, currently managing director of OOCL (China) Ltd in Shanghai, will be transferred to the USA and take up the position of president of OOCL (USA) Inc.
Mr Yao will also become a member of OOCL’s Executive Committee and a Director of OOCL. Insiders say Mr Yao is being groomed for a very high up position within the Tung family controlled company in the future.
In the US, he will be taking over from Peter Leng, who is set to retire on January 1 after 34 years with company.
In other changes announced yesterday, with effect from January 1, 2010, Mr Stephen Ng, currently Senior Vice President, Transpacific, OOCL (USA) Inc, will relocate to Hong Kong as Director, Transpacific Trade.
Mr Paul Devine, currently Vice President, Transatlantic Trade, will relocate to San Ramon, California, as Senior Vice President of Sales.
Ms Pamela Tung will take up the position of Director, Transatlantic Trade, based in Hong Kong. With effect from November 1, 2009, Mr Henry Wong will relocate to Hong Kong to take up the position of Director of Corporate Logistics Department.
Mr Wong is currently head of OOCL Europe. Regions will report to Mr Bosco Louie, who will take up the position of Director of a new Regions Management Department.
