CEVA
Logistics, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group,
has won a multi-year contract to provide logistics services in central and
northern Europe from a dedicated new logistics centre to Ideal Standard,
one of the world's leading manufacturers of private and public bathroom
solutions.
"The new contract is one of the most innovative
projects CEVA has ever undertaken in central and northern Europe and has been
implemented using its 'Zero Defect Start-Up' methodology," the company
enthused.
The
new 17,375 square metre regional distribution centre located in Bielany
Wroclawskie in southwest Poland will serve 13 central and northern European
countries covered by Ideal Standard's network. The facility can handle up to
150,000 pallets per annum.
The highest safety standards have also been implemented
on site, which means zero accidents at work, as well as a programme to engage
employees in the conscious creation of a safe working environment," CEVA
said.
From there, CEVA will manage all warehouse and transport
processes for the manufacturer, including supplying the distribution centre
from European factories and coordinating deliveries to final customers in Poland,
Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Denmark,
Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The development is regarded as "an enhanced
cooperation between Ideal Standard and CEVA Logistics' expert teams to provide
technically-advanced solutions in these regions."
The joint teams from CEVA Logistics and Ideal Standard
held a number of project meetings to develop the operational documentation, the
layout of the warehouse, and the purchasing and installation processes which
would be used in Poland. They also conducted recruitment, training, and
administrative processes, including supervision of the design of the office and
welfare space equipment.
Modern technology-based solutions were used to launch and
execute this contract. In addition to the strategic deployment of its WMS
Matrix system, CEVA's IT experts have been evaluating the use of drones, robots
and other innovations to support administrative and warehouse processes inside
the facility.
CEVA's
managing director central and eastern Europe Guillaume Sauzedde added:
"The Zero Defect Start-Up methodology ensured that a team of experts was
set up in specific areas to oversee the customer's precise needs and
requirements.
"The aim of using ZDS was to flawlessly implement
the project, maintain budgetary discipline and guarantee the highest quality of
service after the implementation phase."
