Hundreds of
passengers of the "Spirit of Tasmania 1" and the "Noordam"
were stranded for four hours after a bomb scare at Melbourne's Station Pier on Nov
19, 2015, enforcing the evacuation of both ships.
Passengers
found shelter in a nearby pub as police inspected the "Noordam".
Officers
cordoned off part of the street.
The operation
was calm and the pier was evacuated efficiently.
Paramedics, a
couple of ambulances, at least 15 police cars and a lot of detectives were on
scene.
The Victorian
Bomb Response Unit conducted safety checks at the pier after sniffer dogs
picked up a suspicious smell at 12.15 p.m., but deemed the area safe at around
4.15 p.m.
No suspicious
package was found at Melbourne's main passenger shipping terminal.
The vessels were
set to depart on Nov 20 at 5.30 p.m.
