UKRAINE
Air Alliance (UAA) has lost its operating certificate, in
the wake of a fatal landing accident on October 5 that claimed the lives of
five of the eight occupants onboard an Antonov-12 in Lviv city in western
Ukraine.
The state aviation administration did not give a specific
reason for terminating the certificate, effective from October 5, according to Flight
Global.
The tragic incident happened when the aircraft came down
short of the runway at Lviv as it prepared to make a
refuelling stop en route from Vigo to Istanbul. Unconfirmed reports
suggest the aircraft had run out of fuel, reported London's Air Cargo News.
European
Union Aviation Safety Agency said third-country operator
approval for the carrier has also been withdrawn, according to the agency's
newly-updated register of authorised carriers. UAA operates a fleet of seven
An-12s.
Ukrainian regulators have launched a technical assistance
programme, in co-operation with the International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO), that aims to improve certification and flight operations oversight
within the country.
