TO mark it 20th anniversary, Germany's leading
terminal operator, EUROGATE is to offer shippers and shipowners free storage
of standard containers for 20 calendar days at its facility in Wilhelmshaven in
Germany.
In a statement, the terminal operator said "the
offer will be available for 14 months and will end on December
31, 2020," adding that the campaign is limited to ISO standard containers
(20-, 40- and 45-foot containers, as well as high-cube containers) for import
and export cargo only.
"It does not apply to non-ISO containers,
refrigerated containers, dangerous goods, empty containers, transshipment or
break-bulk loads and is only valid for the EUROGATE Container
Terminal Wilhelmshaven," the statement added.
"Given the current fluctuating, and at times
uncertain, global economic conditions, the campaign offers shippers and
shipowners significantly more flexibility. In the event of delayed ship
arrivals or even cancellations, customers will no longer incur an additional
financial penalty," the company said.
EUROGATE explained that Wilhelmshaven was chosen to host
the campaign "because it is Germany's transshipment hub of the future. Its
nautical conditions make it ideal for all ship sizes, particularly the
increasing number of ultra large container vessels of more than 20,000
TEU".
