"Divisi Teknologi Nokia telah merevisi strategi jangka panjang dan akan membawa konsekuensi pembentukan kembali organisasi. Sebagai bagian dari ini, pembicaraan sudah mulai dilakukan dengan para staf," kata juru bicara perusahaan Riitta Mard seperti dilansir Reuters.

Unit yang meliputi bisnis hak paten dan lisensi merek Nokia itu memiliki 650 karyawan secara global dan sekitar 400 karyawan di Finlandia.

[130515.EN.SEA] Van Trooijen Takes Over From Tim Smith as Maersk North Asia CEO

DENMARK's Maersk Line has announced that Dutchman Robbert Van Trooijen will take over his new role as chief executive for North Asia from July 1 and be based in Hong Kong.

Mr Van Trooijen replaces Tim Smith who has been appointed the chairman of Maersk China Ltd and the chief representative of the Maersk group in North Asia, a company statement said.

"North Asia is a critically important market for Maersk Line, accounting for around 40 per cent of Maersk Line's global export volumes and we continue to see new opportunities in the market which I will be looking forward to explore," said Mr Van Trooijen.

He joined the Danish shipping giant in 2006 after spending his first 15 years in shipping with Anglo-Dutch ocean liner P&O Nedlloyd in various management positions based in Hong Kong and South Korea. Prior to assuming the role of CEO for Latin America in 2011, he led the West and Central Asia region for three years.

Maersk is represented in 44 locations in the North Asia region with 1,800 employees.

Fritz, Managing Director Mobile Devices Division PT ZTE Indonesia, mengatakan berbagai sistem keamanan yang telah ditanamkan dalam smartphone ZTE dimaksudkan untuk melindungi data pribadi pengguna.

“Tujuan kami adalah membuat smartphone yang aman sehingga informasi pribadi dan data rahasia mereka dapat terlindungi. Hal ini sangat penting, khususnya bagi pelaku bisnis, enterprise, dan pemerintahan, yaitu orang-orang yang berurusan dengan banyak informasi rahasia dan sensitif melalui ponsel mereka,” jelasnya, Rabu (13/5).

ZTE memiliki strategi ’10 Perlindungan’ yang menyediakan sistem keamanan, seperti perlindungan terhadap penyadapan, keterbukaan informasi, pelacakan, pencurian, charging malpractice, penipuan, virus, pelecehan, kecerobohan, dan pengurangan kecepatan.

 Fritz mengatakan anti-phishing dan anti-fraud adalah dua dari ’10 pencegahan’ yang ditanamkan pada smartphone ZTE. Anti-phishing berfungsi untuk meningkatkan enkripsi pada pesan yang dikirimkan dan diterima melalui WeChat serta SMS. 

Anti-fraud berfungsi untuk mendeteksi upaya penipuan berbahaya. Teknologi ZTE ini telah mendapatkan paten di China. ZTE juga telah mengembangkan mobile browser yang dapat memverifikasi URL dan memberikan browsing yang lebih aman.

 Selain itu, ZTE juga menciptakan palm butler, yaitu perangkat lunak untuk mengatur keamanan yang khusus dikembangkan oleh ZTE. Perangkat lunak tersebut menawarkan 13 fungsi keamanan seperti optimasi sistem, pembukti keaslian, smart interception, pemeriksaan cloud dan pengawasan lalu lintas.

CONTAINERISED import cargo through major US ports is returning to normal levels as officials gear up to count votes on ratification of a new west coast labour contract that ended months of uncertainty, according to a report from the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Hackett Associates.

The Pacific Maritime Association and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union tentatively agreed on a five-year contract in February. While union leadership has recommended that members vote for ratification, votes won't be counted until May 22. The lack of a contract has resulted in "crisis-level congestion" at west coast ports, NRF officials said.

Ports covered by Global Port Tracker handled a record high 1.73 million TEU in March. Driven by a surge of backlogged cargo waiting to be discharged following the labour dispute, the number was up 44.9 per cent compared with February and 33.1 per cent from March 2014, NRF officials said in a press release.

April was estimated at 1.55 million TEU, an 8.1 per cent increase compared with April 2014. The first half of 2015 is forecast at 8.8 million TEU, up six per cent compared with the same period a year ago.

The volume increases are coming as ship owners launch an "excessive number" of large vessels that could lead to a "price war" on shipping rates, said Hackett Associates founder Ben Hackett.

"There is not enough demand to justify this level of capacity increase," he said. "Expect rates on both coastal services to fall to all-time lows."

Global Port Tracker covers the US ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle and Tacoma on the west coast, as well as New York/New Jersey, Hampton Roads, Charleston, Savannah, Port Everglades and Miami on the east coast. It also covers Houston on the Gulf Coast.

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA - Menteri Keuangan Bambang Brodjonegoro menjamin belanja pemerintah mengungkit kinerja sektor riil mulai kuartal II/2015 dari keterpurukan sepanjang 3 bulan awal tahun.

"Kami harapkan ada pengganda atau multiplier effect dari belanja pemerintah, khususnya dari infrastruktur," katanya saat ditanya tentang langkah pemerintah berkaitan dengan penurunan performa sektor riil kuartal I/2015, Kamis (30/4/2015).

Sebelumnya, Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (Apindo) melaporkan penurunan kinerja pada seluruh sektor. Koreksi paling dalam dialami oleh sektor properti dan hotel, yakni hingga 40%. Sektor ritel anjlok 25%, disusul otomotif 20%. Sektor makanan dan minuman yang biasanya kebal terhadap guncangan ekonomi, kali ini terkontraksi 10%.

"Kuartal I/2015 memprihatinkan, hampir di seluruh sektor. Saya belum mendapat laporan dari teman-teman di Apindo yang mencatat kondisinya positif," kata Ketua Umum Apindo Hariyadi B. Sukamdani, Rabu (29/4/2015).

Buruknya kinerja sektor riil juga terkonfirmasi pada laporan keuangan emiten yang menunjukkan performa laba di bawah estimasi, termasuk dari sektor otomotif dan consumer goods. Imbasnya, indeks harga saham gabungan (IHSG) sejak awal pekan berada di zona merah.

CARRIERS have rushed in to provide all-water Asia-US east coast services, but London's Drewry Maritime Research doubts the sustainability of the "stampede".

Buoyed by rising demand brought about by strife-induced US west coast port slow-downs and congestion, 19 connections were offered in the first quarter between Asia and east coast North America.

With the strong demand, head haul rates rocketed and lured carriers to throw more tonnage in. Asian boxes bound for the east coast in January and February shot up 15 per cent year on year.

But now there are 25 connections, and even after applying a generous allowance for out-of-scope cargo, the monthly slot count is reckoned to reach some 475,000 TEU, equating to 18 per cent greater supply, notes Newark's Journal of Commerce.

Drewry noted that even though the Asia-US east coast routing through Suez had become increasingly popular in the last few year, only one of the six did not transit Panama.

Rates have been attractive too, Before Chinese New Year eastbound spot rates had risen FEU, But after that surge they slipped back to US$3,700 by the end of April.

Yet the rise in cargo landed at east coast ports in the first quarter is impressive, Drewry concedes. US east coast terminals saw gains of 23 per cent while Gulf Coast discharges rose by 53 per cent. Meanwhile the US west coast was hit by a six per cent decline.

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA—Chief Operating Officer Motorola mengatakan Samsung mungkin akan tergeser dari posisi nomor satu produsen ponsel di dunia, seperti yang terjadi pada Nokia dan Blackberry.

COO Motorola Rick Osterloh mengatakan perusahaan yang menjadi posisi pertama dalam industri telepon seluler akan berganti dalam setiap tujuh tahun.

Apalagi, saat ini masyarakat dunia telah menyadari satu hal penting, bahwa menikmati ponsel pintar yang berkualitas, tidak perlu membayar mahal.

“Anda tidak perlu membayar mahal hingga US$600 untuk mendapatkan ponsel pintar unggulan,” katanya ketika diinterview Forbes seperti dikutip Gsmarena, Sabtu (7/2/2015).

Motorola telah menjual lebih dari 10 juta ponsel pintar pada kuartal lalu atau naik 118% dibandingkan periode yang sama 2013.

Perusahaan yang kini dimiliki Lenovo tersebut awalnya hanya fokus pada 10 negara di Amerika Utara, Eropa, dan Amerika Latin.

Saat ini, Motorola telah hadir di 50 negara dan berencana mengekspansi pasar 10 hingga 15 negara lagi tahun ini.

Perusahaan tersebut menargetkan pengembalian keuntungan pada empat atau lima kuartal mendatang.
