KUWAIT's United Arab
Shipping Company (UASC) named its ninth and last in a series of newbuilds from
Samsung Heavy Industries to be deployed on its Far East/Red Sea/Europe service,
AEC8 or FAL 2/AEX 7.
The ninth vessel in the
series of ultra large container ship (ULCS) took nine-months to build and is to
be named Ain Snan. It has a 13,500-TEU capacity at 366-metre-long and 48
metre-wide ultra large container ship (ULCS) with a load capacity of over
145,000 dwt and more than 800 reefer slots.
The vessel will join a
service partnered with CMA CGM and CSCL and slot-shared by Yang Ming, Hanjin
and Cosco, calling at Hamburg, Zeebrugge, Jeddah, Port Klang, Shanghai, Ningbo,
Shenzhen-Shekou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian, Port Klang, Jeddah, Le Havre,
Rotterdam and back to Hamburg.
The naming ceremony was held
in the port of Hamburg with guest terminal operator Eurogate, deputy harbour
master Andreas Brummermann as well as Captain Nazr Ul Islam and UASC vice
president Europe Bjarne Ehlig-Jensen.
