[160220.EN.SEA] SM Line Replaces HMM on MSC and Maersk's Transpacific Routes


2M partners Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) have found a new South Korean shipping line to team up with on the transpacific trade lanes. The new tie up with SM Line comes before the April 1 departure of former partner Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) who is joining rival THE Alliance.

In a note to clients, MSC explained the partnership with SM Line is not linked to 2M, reported Singapore's Splash 247.

"The new agreement with SM Line is separate from the 2M vessel sharing agreement between MSC and Maersk, and the services of 2M and SM Line will complement each other. It consists of a combination of slot exchanges and slot purchases among the three parties - MSC, Maersk and SM Line - and it is subject to regulatory approval," MSC stated.

The SM tie-up specifically will give MSC and Maersk greater access to the Pacific northwest, while allowing SM more slots to California.

The agreement between 2M and ZIM in the Pacific northwest region remains in full effect.

SM Line was launched three years ago by Samra Midas Group, after snapping up many of the assets of collapsed Hanjin Shipping. Samra Midas, best known in Korea for its construction activities, also owns Korea Line Corporation.

SM Line has just put several of its 6,000-TEU ships up for sale, vessels that had been deployed on the carrier's Pacific southwest (PSW) service linking Asia with Los Angeles.

Commenting on the news, Andy Lane from Singapore's CTI Consultancy, said teaming up with Maersk and MSC was a logical move for SM Line.

"It was always going to be difficult for SM Line to operate solo on these trades in terms of unit costs, product diversity and utilisation of assets. It therefore makes perfect sense for them to share services with 2M, which will undoubtedly be win-win," Mr Lane said.

SM Line is expected to continue to operate its 4,500-TEU ships on its Pacific northwest service calling Vancouver, Portland and Seattle, with 2M expected to take some space.

[160220.ID.BIZ] Serikat Pekerja: Yang dilakukan Indosat Adalah Program PHK Ilegal

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) dikabarkan telah menawarkan PHK kepada lebih dari 500 karyawannya dari berbagai unit kerja secara sepihak. Penawaran PHK serentak itu terjadi pada 14 Februari 2020 kemarin.

Mengenai hal tersebut, Serikat Pekerja (SP) Indosat menyesali keputusan ISAT yang secara sepihak melakukan pemutusan tanpa ada perundingan internal terlebih dahulu.

Presiden Serikat Pekerja Indosat R. Roro Dwi Handayani mengatakan, SP Indosat menyesalkan keputusan ini karena tidak dirundingkan dan disepakati secara tertulis, padahal Undang-undang dan PKB yang berlaku di Indosat mewajibkan adanya perundingan dan kesepakatan tertulis jika perusahaan ingin melakukan PHK. "Jadi yang dilakukan Indosat ini adalah program PHK Ilegal," tutur Roro dalam keterangan resmi di Jakarta Sabtu, (15/2).

Lanjut Roro, proses PHK pun terbilang singkat, karyawan hanya diberi waktu kurang lebih empat jam untuk menandatangani formulir kesediaan PHK.

"Kami menyesalkan buruknya komunikasi dan perlakuan perusahaan kepada seluruh karyawan, khususnya kepada yang terkena dampak keputusan ini. Karyawan diminta untuk menandatangani form kesediaan PHK jika ingin mendapatkan benefit yang maksimal," katanya.

Pasalnya, menurut Roro bila menunda-nunda penandatanganan surat ketersediaan PHK itu, nilai pesangon yang diterima karyawan bisa berkurang dari yang dijanjikan menjadi hanya senilai pesangon yang ditetapkan dalam Undang-Undang No.13 Tahun 2003 tentang Ketenagakerjaan.

"Benefit akan terus menurun setiap beberapa hari, hingga sampai seminggu benefit hanya senilai ketentuan pesangon pada UUK 13/2003, jadi PHK ini bersifat pemaksaan, karena meski berupa penawaran, namun bagi yang menolak nantinya akan tetap diproses PHK melalui pengadilan," paparnya.

Menurutnya, penawaran PHK terjadi sebab perusahaan tersebut kini tengah fokus melakukan pengalihan pekerjaan dan perampingan organisasi.

"Diperkirakan hal tersebut terkait dengan rencana perusahaan untuk melakukan pengalihan pekerjaan di fungsi Network Operation, dan perampingan organisasi," ungkap Roro.

Di sisi lain, Ketua Bidang Humas dan Media Serikat Pekerja Indosat periode 2019-2021 Ismu Hasyim menuturkan, dari Serikat Pekerja memperkirakan lebih dari 500 karyawan tersebut dan pihaknya sampai saat ini masih terus berkoordinasi secara internal di pusat maupun dengan rekan pengurus cabang terkait pemecatan tersebut.

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Bisnis marketplace di awal tahun ini sejatinya mendapat tantangan hebat. Yang paling utama adalah merebaknya wabah virus korona yang menekan transaksi perdagangan, terutama dari China. Negeri Tirai Bambu tersebut tercatat sebagai salah satu mitra strategis bagi banyak pihak di dalam negeri.

Sepak terjang virus mematikan ini seolah menjadi pukulan ganda bagi marketplace dalam negeri lantaran sebelumnya pemerintah sudah mengeluarkan aturan. Yakni Peraturan Menteri Keuangan (PMK) Nomor 199 Tahun 2019 tentang Ketentuan Kepabeanan, Cukai, dan Pajak Atas Impor Barang Kiriman.

Dalam aturan tersebut, pemerintah menurunkan batasan nilai pembebasan bea masuk atas barang kiriman dari semula US$ 75 menjadi US$ 3. Artinya, barang impor yang nilainya di atas US$ 3 saja bakal terkena bea masuk. Pengelola marketplace berharap UMKM mengambil peluang dengan mengoptimalkan pasar online dengan kebijakan baru itu.
Melihat dua fakta ini, Yudhi Pramono, SVP  Head of Legal, Regulatory Compliance and Litigation Blibli.com memastikan bahwa marketplace lokal hingga kini belum terlalu pengaruh terhadap dua kondisi tersebut.

Informasi yang ia dapatkan dari Asosiasi e-Commerce Indonesia (idEA), transaksi impor atau cross border di e-commerce domestik kurang lebih 5% saja dari total transaksi e-commerce secara keseluruhan. "Dampaknya tidak terlalu luas bagi  industri e-commerce serta Blibli khususnya," ungkap Yudhi kepada KONTAN Kamis (13/2).

Hingga saat ini, Blibli sudah punya 75.000 mitra. Dan sebagian besar dari mitra tersebut memasarkan produk yang sudah diproduksi di dalam negeri. Kebetulan Blibli punya kanal khusus bagi produk lokal yaitu Galeri Indonesia. "Jadi bagi Blibli sendiri tidak berdampak," ucap Geoffrey L. Dermawan, SVP Merchant Sales, Operation & Development Blibli.

Nuraini Razak, Vice President of Corporate Communications Tokopedia mengklaim pihaknya tidak mempunyai data terkait transaksi e-commerce lintas negara, karena sistem bisnis dari Tokopedia transaksi yang berasal dari dalam negeri atau pasar domestik.

"Tokopedia hanya menerima penjual asal Indonesia dan memfasilitasi transaksi dari Indonesia untuk Indonesia bukan lintas negara," ungkapnya ke KONTAN.
Begitu juga dengan Bukalapak. Menurut Intan Wibisono, Head of Corporate Communications Bukalapak hingga saat ini mereka tidak terlalu terpengaruh efek korona dan adanya penurunan bea masuk barang kiriman dari luar negeri.

Meski ia akui ada juga pelapak yang melakukan transaksi dari luar negeri. "Untuk barang impor dari China, saat ini aktivitas jual beli dan distribusi barang di Bukalapak masih berlangsung seperti biasa," katanya kepada KONTAN. Hanya saja ia tidak memperinci berapa rerata transaksi sebelum merebaknya virus dengan kondisi terkini.

[140220.EN.BIZ] Coronavirus To Cost Container Lines US$300-350m Per Week In Lost Revenue


CONTAINER shipping lines are taking an estimated revenue hit of US$300-$350 million as they blank sailings while the coronavirus continues on its deadly march worldwide.

According to analysts Sea-Intelligence, with the extended closure of Chinese factories extremely low levels of exports were forcing the mass cancellation of sailings, reported Seatrade Maritime News, Colchester, UK.

According to the analyst in a "very short period of time" lines had voided a further 31 sailings on the transpacific and Asia to Europe trades due to the coronavirus outbreak, on top of existing cancelled voyages over the lull of Chinese New Year.

On the transpacific, some 21 sailings had been blanked equating to 198,500 TEU of capacity, which came in addition to 61 voyages cancelled over Chinese New Year.

On the Asia-Europe trade, where larger vessels are deployed, ten additional sailings were suspended, withdrawing 151,000 TEU of capacity. Lines had already blanked 51 sailings over the holiday period on the Asia to North Europe and Mediterranean trade lane.

In real terms for container lines this will equate to a substantial hit on revenues. "In very round numbers, we are experiencing a shortfall of some 300,000 - 350,000 TEU per week in the market. Again, in very round numbers, if this is at average rate levels of around $1,000 per TEU it equals a revenue shortfall for the carriers of $300-350 million per week," SeaIntel said.

For shippers using backhaul trades the result could be the shortage of capacity in the weeks to come and also therefore higher freight rates.

"The rapid mass-cancellation of additional sailings have a high likelihood of causing capacity shortages for back-haul shippers three to six weeks into the future, depending on geography. Back-haul shippers should therefore now prepare not only contingency plans for potential capacity issues, but also for significant price spikes," the report said.

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Produsen ban asal Korea, Hankook Tire kembali memperpanjang kontrak kemitraan strategisnya sebagai penyalur resmi produsen truk trailer asal Eropa, Schmitz Cargobull. Perpanjangan kontrak ini disepakati di kota Neu-Isenburg, Jerman pada awal Februari 2020 ini.

“Berkat pertumbuhan industri logistik dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, kemitraan untuk kendaraan komersial dan truk trailer menjadi semakin penting bagi bisnis Hankook.” ungkap President Hankook Tire Eropa, Sanghoon Lee dalam siaran pers yang diterima Kontan.co.id pada Jumat (14/02).

Keputusan untuk memperpanjang kontrak didasari oleh hubungan kemitraan antara Hankook Tire dan Schmitz Cargobull yang telah terjalin sebelumnya. Mulanya, hubungan kemitraan antara Hankook Tire dengan Schmitz Cargobull mulai berlangsung sejak tahun 2013. Adapun sejumlah portofolio yang disalurkan antara lain meliputi  ban TBR (Truck and Bus Tire ) serta sejumlah produk-produk inovasi lainnya.

Seiring dengan hubungan kemitraan yang berjalan lancar, Schmitz Cargobull bahkan sempat menganugerahi Hankook Tire penghargaan kemitraan strategis pada tahun 2017 lalu.

Saat ini, bisnis original equipment yang berlangsung antara Hankook Tire dan Schmitz Cargobull khusus berlaku di pasar Eropa. Adapun portfolio produk yang dipasok meliputi  sembilan dimensi ban trailer berukuran 19.5 hingga 22.5 inci, termasuk di antarnaya dimensi Mega-Trailer 455/40R R 22.5 dari seri Hankook e-cube Max, serta portfolio produk lainnya antara lain seri SmartWork seri SmartFlex dan seri SmartControl untuk truk musim dingin.

Jenis ban truk dan bus yang sudah dipasarkan di Indonesia antara lain AH31K (Bus & Tubeless), AH30 (Cargo), AM09 (Lite Truck), AM81 (on-off road), DM81 & DM07 (Mining), DM80D (Dump).

Sejauh ini, Hankook Tire Indonesia tengah membidik peluang untuk membuka pabrik khusus yang memproduksi ban segmen truk dan bus (Truck and Bus Tire). Langkah ini  dipertimbangkan guna memenuhi kebutuhan ban yang berkualitas bagi pengguna kendaraan komersial di Indonesia dengan ongkos beli yang lebih terjangkau.

Namun demikian, manajemen menyebutkan bahwa rencana ini masih dalam tahap pengkajian mengingat keputusan yang demikian membutuhkan pertimbangan ekonomi global dan potensi pasar di Indonesia.

[130220.EN.BIZ] DSV Panalpina's Airfreight Volumes Rise But Profits Decline Due To Integration


DSV's air freight revenues and volumes improved last year after buying Panalpina. Total DSV Panalpina Group 2019 revenues swelled by 19.8 per cent compared to 2018 to DKK94.7 billion (US$13.82 billion), earnings before interest and tax (ebit) rose by 22.1 per cent to DKK6.6 billion, yet profits slumped seven per cent to DKK3.7 billion.

The company attributed the drop in net profits to integration costs and higher net financial expenses, reported London's Air Cargo News.

The operating margin, when excluding the impact of new accounting standards, slipped from 6.9 to 6.6 per cent.

"The decline in margins was attributable to the Panalpina integration, which initially had an adverse effect on the margins of the group," the company said. "As integration progresses and synergies are realised, margins are expected to increase."

Looking at the air freight business, full-year volumes rose by 55 per cent compared to 2018 to 1.1 million tonnes, while revenues were up 43.6 per cent to DKK27.1 billion and gross profit jumped by 42.5 per cent to DKK6.6 billion.

If Panalpina's figures are taken out of the equation, DSV would have registered a two per cent decrease in air freight demand.

"The global air freight market saw a decline in transport volumes of three to four per cent in 2019," DSV Panalpina said in a statement.

"Exports out of China and Germany were among the weakest markets measured by volume. From an industry perspective, the slowdown in the automotive industry had a negative impact on air volumes, but several other sectors were also in decline.

"The weak air freight market led to overcapacity and low air freight rates on most trade lanes.

DSV Panalpina said the second half of the year was intensely focussed on integrating the two businesses.

In addition to the physical integration, a comprehensive IT integration was initiated across the whole organisation, gradually migrating Panalpina users and customers onto DSV's IT infrastructure and merging back-office functions.

Panalpina added new activities to the division: Perishables represented a significant part of its airfreight volume.

Also, through its freighter network, the company now controls a limited amount of own air freight capacity, including a leased Boeing 747 freighter.

Looking ahead, the Panalpina integration is expected to be wrapped up next year.

"Our ability to take market share will be limited in the busiest integration period, but we will do our utmost to get back on the growth track as soon as possible," said chief executive Jens Bjorn Andersen. "We are well-positioned for further growth within all three divisions."
