Damco has unveiled its expanded southern Vietnam Logistics Centre
in Binh
Duong Province, just north of Ho Chi Minh City, the company announced.
Now
covering 37,150-square metres and 141 loading bays, and incorporating
state-of-the-art facilities, this C-TPAT certified multi-purpose warehouse is a
pillar of a multi-year capacity expansion plan.
Together
with the recent development of the Haiphong warehouse in North Vietnam to
11,500-square metre, Damco Vietnam's warehouse capacity now stands at an
impressive 73,000 square metres across five sites.
The
company's growing contract logistics operation has over 25,000 square metres of
space to serve industrial, retail, fashion and chemical customers.
The
new container freight consolidation facility is equipped with a High Jump CFS
management system, RF scanning, a sprinkler system and a digital CCTV system.
It
also incorporates a quality control room and an on-site customs office,
supported by a dedicated country management team which works closely with other
Damco teams in origin and destination countries.
"In
preparation for upcoming strong economic growth, Damco Vietnam has invested to
upgrade capacity north and south," said Damco regional manager Marco
Civardi.
"We
are now able to perform new value added activities. Noteworthy is the
acquisition of our bonded licence capability in Haiphong and the possibility to
perform activities such as metal detection, CNI (Certificate of No Impediment)
and inner carton checking within our Ho Chi Minh facility," he said.
Damco
provides services in 300 in 100 countries and employs 11,000 people. In 2015,
Damco generated revenues of US$2.74 billion, managed 2.9 million TEU of ocean
freight and supply chain management volumes and air-freighted 180 thousand
tonnes.
