AMERICAN
Airlines (AA)
has pledged a US$100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist those hit by
tornadoes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where the company is based, AA
announced.
American
has also activated its customer and employee donation websites to assist the
Red Cross with relief efforts throughout the country, the company said.
Customers
making donations via the American Airlines dedicated Red Cross website will be
awarded AAdvantageR miles; donations can be made by visiting aa.com/redcross.
These
are in addition to American's long-standing agreement with the American Red
Cross as one of its Annual Disaster Giving Programme Members.
"The
tornadoes that hit North Texas during the holiday weekend caused significant
damage and impacted thousands of lives," said Joe Taney, American's vice
president, DFW hub operations.
"We
also thank the 25,000 American Airlines employees in the Dallas/Fort Worth area
who have worked throughout the holidays and during this latest round of severe
weather to take such good care of our customers," Mr Taney said.
