JEROME Lorrain has been promoted to the position of chief operating officer freight management at CEVA Logistics based in Houston, Texas. In his new role he will be responsible for air and ocean freight on top of his current position as head of the ground business line.

Mr Lorrain, a member of the company's executive board, takes over the air and ocean role from Helmut Kaspers who has left the company, reported London's Air Cargo News.

Managing director of the UK, Ireland and Nordics cluster Michael O'Donoghue will assume Mr Lorrain's role as managing director for North America from January 1. It has not been announced yet who will fill Mr O'Donoghue's current role.

"I would like to congratulate Jerome and Michael on their well-deserved promotions. They are two exceptional individuals with wide-ranging business skills which make them ideally suited to their new roles," chief executive Xavier Urbain was quoted as saying.

Before joining CEVA, Mr Lorrain was chief executive officer of Wallenborn Transports in Luxembourg and prior to that worked at Kuehne + Nagel for a decade.

Mr O'Donoghue joined CEVA in 2010 following a 25-year career in the freight and logistics industry which included senior management positions in both contract logistics and freight management for DHL.
