CHINA's growing in global trade was reflected in 2020 statistics as its major container ports continued to grow despite the Covid crisis, reports London's Lloyd's Loading List

Chinese ports are on six of the top eight spots in Alphaliner's ranking of the world's biggest 25 container hubs in 2020.

Shanghai retained its position as the world's largest box port in 2020, with volumes rising 0.5 per cent. The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan fell 4.4 per cent, Shenzhen dropped three per cent, Qingdao fell 4.7 per cent and Tianjin dropped 6.1 per cent.

"With booming transpacific trade volumes, Qingdao moved up to sixth place during the year, while number one Shanghai pulled further ahead of its nearest competitor, Singapore, increasing its lead by nearly 10 per cent to 6.7 million TEU," said Alphaliner.

Shanghai's throughput rose to 43.5 million TEU compared with Singapore's 36.9 million TEU, a drop of 0.9 per cent.

Malaysia's Port Kelang and Tanjung Pelepas and Los Angeles/Long Beach and New York/Newark were the only other countries with more than one port in the top 25.

The top 25 container ports handled a combined 395.7 million TEU, a rise of 0.55 per cent versus the 393.5 million recorded in 2019.

General Manager Kawasan Industri Jababeka, Rudy Subrata, mengatakan, pihaknya juga terbuka bagi perusahaan startup yang saat ini sudah banyak perusahaan rintisan yang melakukan relokasi usahanya ke Kawasan Industri Jababeka.

Menurutnya, hal itu bisa terjadi karena fenomena cross border market, yaitu perpindahan industri startup dari Jawa Tengah dan Jawa Timur ke Jawa Barat, khususnya ke Kawasan Industri Jababeka. Sementara industri padat karya yang tadinya beroperasi di Jawa Barat pindah ke Jawa Tengah.

Hal itu terjadi secara natural atau seleksi alam di mana para perusahaan startup akan memilih kawasan industri yang infrastrukturnya sudah mendukung industry 4.0 demi kemajuan usahanya.  Fenomena ini sendiri, kata Rudy, sudah terjadi sejak 2020 lalu yang membuat Kawasan Industri Jababeka terus menyiapkan diri demi mampu meng-capture market ini.

"Januari lalu kami baru saja meluncurkan Fablab, sebuah pusat inovasi, pengembangan kompetensi dan purwarupa berbagai produk terkait implementasi Industry 4.0. Nantinya, para perusahaan startup bisa memakai fablab untuk riset dan pengembangan produk mereka," ujarnya dalam keterangan resmi, Minggu (28/2).

Dengan kehadiran fablab ini, lanjutnya, merupakan bukti keseriusan perusahaan untuk bisa memenuhi kebutuhan para perusahaan startup yang ada di Jababeka dan membangun ekosistem industry 4.0 terbesar dan terbaik di Indonesia.

Selain itu, hal tersebut bisa terjadi karena pelayanan bantuan perizinan yang bernama J-FAST (Jababeka Focus to accelerate services tenant). Kehadiran J-FAST mampu memudahkan investor yang ingin pabriknya cepat beroperasi tanpa harus dipusingkan proses perizinan, baik izin mendirikan bangunan, izin usaha, izin mendirikan perusahaan sampai izin lingkungan.

Kemudian, juga lantaran memiliki infrastruktur yang mampu menopang berbagai kegiatan industri. Mulai dari pembangkit listrik mandiri, Waste Water Treatment Plant & Water Treatment Plant, Cikarang Dry Port sebagai pusat solusi logistik, jaringan fiber optic berkecepatan tinggi, sistem keamanan 24 jam, hingga Heli Commuter.

Direktur PT Infrastruktur Cakrawala Telekomunikasi (ICTel), Muhammad Ayub Arwin, menjelaskan bahwa saat ini jaringan telekomunikasi fiber optik yang merupakan infrastruktur dasar industri 4.0 sudah tersebar di hampir semua kawasan Jababeka seluas 5600 hektar. Sehingga di mana pun pabrik baru akan dibangun, layanan internet sudah bisa didapat.

"Selain itu, kami juga telah menyediakan end to end IOT solution. Mulai dari aplikasi absen, payroll, HR (human resources), dan proses produksi," terang Ayub.

Kemudian ICTel, yang juga salah satu anak usaha dari Jababeka Group, memiliki aplikasi layanan sosial, J-Smart. Dengan aplikasi ini, para tenant dan masyarakat setempat lebih mudah mengadukan keluhan, mendapatkan layanan dan berkomunikasi langsung antara tenant dengan pengelola atau pihak lain. "Bahkan di sana user juga bisa memantau progres pekerjaan dan evaluasi kerja di aplikasi tersebut," urainya.

Adapun, kawasan industri yang terletak di Koridor Timur Jakarta ini telah memiliki lebih dari 2.000 perusahaan multinasional maupun nasional dari 30 negara.

[270221.EN.BIZ] Don't Expect Radical Changes in US China Policy, Says StanChart

 

DON'T expect US President Joe Biden to much change former president Donald Trump's hardline policy on China, warned the Standard Chartered Bank's chief strategist Eric Robertsen.

"The Biden team has made it clear they think that the tariffs strategy was flawed. That being said, I don't think they're going to reverse it," he said in a CNBC television interview, adding that "they will use it as part of a broader negotiating strategy."

In addition, Mr Robertsen noted that it is unlikely the Biden administration will use currency as a tool to influence its trade agenda.

Even as President Joe Biden and his team are focused on improving domestic growth, they recognise it is critical to create conditions for global trade to thrive, Mr Robertsen.

"I don't think that means they will abandon some of the tactics that were used by the Trump administration," he said.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in another CNBC interview: "For the moment, we've kept the tariffs in place that were, you know, put in place by the Trump administration." However, she added that the Biden administration will evaluate how to proceed going forward.

Despite current trade tensions between the world's two largest economies, Mr Robertsen is optimistic about improving relations between the two countries.

"I do see some areas for potentially common ground between the US and China, climate being one of them. This is one area where both countries could make significant commitments to improvement and that might lay the groundwork for more compromise in other areas," he said.

"I'm relatively optimistic that over the course of 12 to 24 months, you will see a better narrative of US and China relations."

In addition, Mr Robertsen noted that it is unlikely the Biden administration will use currency as a tool to influence its trade agenda.

"It is our belief that the Trump administration used this label of currency manipulator as one of many tools to try and help them achieve or pursue specific trade agendas," he said. "I think Biden will be less aggressive with that particular tactic."

Last year, the US Treasury Department under Trump labeled Switzerland and Vietnam as currency manipulators. It also added India, Thailand and Taiwan to a list of countries it says may be deliberately devaluing their currencies against the US dollar.

The Biden administration wants currency markets "to operate freely and effectively, with as little intervention as possible," according to Mr Robertsen.

JAKARTA (aksi. id)- Perusahaan Pengurusan Jasa Kepabeanan (PPJK) mempertanyakan tanggungjawab Terminal Petikemas (TPK) Koja atas biaya yang timbul akibat gangguan pada sistem pembayaran (Billing) di terminal tersebut sepanjang Kamis kemarin

Gagan Gartika, seorang pengusaha PPJK Jumat (26/2/2021) mengatakan banyak pihak dirugikan sebagai dampak dari gangguan sistem pembayaran tetsebut.

Misalya, kata Gagan, pemilik barang Impor (importir)/ wakilnya PPJK bisa terkena denda (demurage) karena terlambat mengembalikan kontaier.

PPJK juga juga bisa didenda oleh importir karena terlambat mengeluarkan barang dari terminal.

"Karena itu manajemennTPK Koja diminta agar memberitahukan gangguan sistem pembayaran tersebut kepada pelayaran maupu importir agar importir tidak dikenakan demorage oleh pelayaran dan PPJK tidak dikenakan denda oleh importir.

Selain itu, kata Gagan, biaya penumpukan dan denda (finalti) akibat dari gangguan pada billing tersebut harusdibebaskan.

Pengusaha angkutan barang

juga menderita kerugian cukup besar akibat adanya gangguan operasional khususnya truk trailer pengangkut petikemas selama dua hari berturut-turut (Rabu dan Kamis sampai Jumat (26/2/2021).

Ketum DPP Asosiasi Pengusha Truk Indonesia (Aptrindo) Gemilang Tarigan, mengatakan gangguan kelancaran angkutan barang pada hari Kamis (25/2/2021) terjadi akibat kegagalan sistem pembayaran jasa layanan di terminal petikemas TPK Koja, Tanjung Priok.

Sehari sebelumnya (Rabu 24/2/20221), kata Tarigan, kelancaran angkutan barang terganggu akibat Sistem layanan di Bea Cukai atau aplikasi CEISA (Centralized Integrated Inter- Connected Automated) mengalami masalah.

Dia mengatakan kerugian pengusha angkutan (kehilangan pendapatan) dalam dua hari ini saja sekitar Rp 4 juta /truk trailer yang operasionalnya tergangu. Kerugian semakin besar karena sampai Jumat sistem pembayaran di Koja masih belum pulih sepenuhnya, ujar Tarigan.

[260221.EN.AIR] Air Canada Hopes To Focus On Freighter Conversions In Future

 

AIR CANADA plans to have seven freighters operating by October 2022 as cargo plays a growing role in the company's business, says president and chief executive Calin Rovinescu.

A deal announced in January will see the airline sell two passenger Boeing 767s to lessor ATSG to be converted into freighters before leasing them back, reported London's Air Cargo News.

The first aircraft will be inducted for conversion in March 2021. Both are expected to be redelivered to Air Canada.

Said deputy CEO and chief financial officer Michael Rousseau: "These [conversions] are longer process and slots are not readily available, but we are certainly working on having all seven up and running by fourth quarter next year."

Vice president and chief commercial officer Lucie Guillemette later confirmed that the carrier plans to convert a total of seven of its B767 aircraft into freighters - it had initially announced plans for two conversions in January.

By end of year 2020, over 4,000 cargo-only flights had operated using a combination of B787s, B777s as well as four B777 and three A330 aircraft with seats removed.

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk (SMDR) menilai bahwa kenaikan harga minyak dunia membawa beberapa efek terhadap kelangsungan bisnis dan kinerja perusahaan tersebut.

Direktur Utama Samudera Indonesia Bani M. Mulia menyampaikan, biaya bahan bakar armada kapal SMDR sudah pasti mengalami kenaikan saat harga minyak dunia juga naik. Di sisi lain, pendapatan perusahaan ini sebenarnya juga bisa meningkat saat harga minyak melesat, karena adanya mekanisme penyesuaian bunker surcharge.

“Artinya kenaikan harga minyak juga akan diteruskan kepada pelanggan dan menambah kenaikan harga freight (kargo) secara total,” ungkap dia, Jumat (26/2).

Menurut dia, efek positif dari kenaikan harga minyak dunia kemungkinan bisa terjadi selama permintaan dari pelanggan tinggi serta pelanggan tersebut memiliki nilai dan marjin yang tinggi sehingga mampu menopang biaya pengirimannya.

Bani juga menuturkan, potensi peningkatan permintaan pengangkutan dan layanan logistik juga tinggi dari pelanggan kapal dari sektor migas. Sebab, produktivitas produsen migas akan meningkat saat harga komoditas tersebut meninggi.

Lebih lanjut, SMDR akan tetap merealisasikan rencananya untuk menambah armada kapal di tahun ini. Di tahun 2020, SMDR sempat menambah 4 unit kapal baru dan di tahun yang sama perusahaan berupaya menambah satu kapal lagi.

Namun, rencana ini tertunda dan bergeser pada tahun 2021 lantaran SMDR memilih berhati-hati menambah kapal baru dan sangat memperhatikan penyesuaian permintaan di pasar. “Tapi rencananya tetap akan dilaksanakan dan dibutuhkan di tahun ini,” tutup Bani.

[250221.EN.SEA] 260 Maersk Boxes Overboard When Oil Safety Valve Stops Engine

 

THE 13,100-TEU Maersk Eindhoven, off Japan en route to California, lost propulsion in foul weather causing the ship roll resulting in the loss of 260 containers overboard and 65 on weatherdeck suffered damage.

"The Maersk Eindhoven experienced a loss of engine propulsion for three to four minutes while sailing 45 nautical miles off northern Japan in heavy seas," said a spokesman. "The loss of maneuverability resulted in severe rolling with containers lost overboard."

"The initial analysis indicates engine oil pressure triggered a safety feature, causing the engines to shut down," Maersk reports. "No malfunction or maintenance issues have been identified."

There is a worrying trend of maritime accidents involving lost containers from ships since November. Containerships are also grounding and needing tug support during transits due to engine problems.

The accident happened near Japan as the 11-year-old ship made its way from Xiamen in China to Los Angeles. Propulsion has been restored and vessel has turned around and is making for port.

The Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), which is a vessel partner with Maersk, stated on its site that because of the engine stop in heavy weather, the Maersk Eindhoven had lost containers overboard - the sixth reported incident of boxes lost at sea since November 30.

Last month around 750 boxes fell off the 13,100-TEU Maersk Essen, both built at Hyundai Heavy Industries, also while sailing from Xiamen to Los Angeles. That ship diverted to Mexico and the Port of Lazaro Cardenas and is now tentatively set to weigh anchor in two days' time and sail for Los Angeles.

Containers lost overboard will be hazardous to shipping in the area and are environmental pollution. They may drift on to nearby beaches and the coastline of Hokkaido and Kuril Islands, Japan in Pacific currents.

Maersk said it will "prioritise calling customers where containers may have been lost or sustained potential damage". It confirmed Maersk Eindhoven was seeking a port of safety. "We are currently assessing the nearest suitable port options in Asia to berth the vessel," Maersk Line said in a customer advisory.

Following that cargo loss in adverse weather, Maersk Essen continued its voyage across the Pacific to Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico for inspection, vessel repairs and cargo operations.

Container ships ONE Apus and ONE Aquila lost or damaged hundreds of containers due to gale-force winds and large swells caused by heavy weather in the northern Pacific.

At the end of December, Evergreen Marine's Ever Liberal lost 36 containers in storm conditions, 20 nautical miles off Japan. Another 21 containers were damaged as the stack collapsed. In 2020, APL and MSC had similar container dropping accidents.

The latest involved containership CMA CGM Titus, which ran aground in the Suez Canal on 15 February. Tugs were mobilised to refloat the 2011-built ship and enable it to resume its northern transit to Lebanon and then to Piraeus, Greece.

Corporate Secretary PT Dewata Freight International Tbk (DEAL) Nur Hasanah mengatakan DEAL juga akan siapkan beberapa stragi bisnisnya dengan melakukan transformasi usaha dari sebelumnya berfokus pada freight forwarding dan project cargo menjadi logistik yang terintergrasi mulai dari pergudangan dingin dan kering.

“Sebelumnya kami fokus ke freight forwarding dan project cargo namun sekarang mulai menginisiasi dan melengkapi servicenya menjadi logistik terintegrasi mulai dari pergudangan dingin dan kering, Pusat Logistik Berikat dan Transport Distribusi,” kata Nur Hasanah kepada Kontan.co.id, Kamis (25/2).

Ia juga menambahkan, rencana bisnis tersebut sejalan dengan prospek bisnis logistik di tahun ini akan lebih baik dari tahun lalu. Hal ini sejalan dengan proyeksi pertumbuhan ekonomi pemerintah sebesar 4,5% hingga 5,5%.

“Dan tentunya pertumbuhan ekonomi tahun ini akan mendorong pertumbuhan di sektor logistik juga,” katanya.

Untuk merealisasikan fokus bisnis di tahun ini, DEAL menganggarkan belanja modal atau capital expenditure (capex) sebesar Rp 100 miliar. Dana tersebut berasal dari perbankan dan non-perbankan serta dari kas internal perusahaan.

“Capex ini akan digunakan untuk pembangunan infrastruktur rantai pasok dingin, pusat logistik berikat dan logistik pertambangan (logistik mining),” ujarnya.

Sementara itu untuk merealisasikan rencana ekspansinya, DEAL juga membuka partnership baik dengan perusahaan dalam negeri maupun luar negeri.

Ia mengaku saat ini telah mendapatkan tawaran dari negara tetangga untuk bermitra seperti Malaysia dan Singapura yang telah mengajukan diri. Hingga saat ini, pihaknya juga masih mematangkan terkait bentuk kemitraan. Menurutnya, bisa dalam hal financial, sumber daya, maupun teknologi.

“Masih dalam proses, kami estimasikan realisasinya baru akan mulai di semester II-2021,” tambahnya.

Selain itu, ia juga bilang bahwa tahun ini DEAL juga akan fokus untuk melengkapi kontraknya dengan beberapa perusahaan farmasi. Sayangnya ia belum menyebutkan siapa saja perusahaan tersebut.

CARRIERS and terminals will be questioned about the fairness of detention and demurrage charges by the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), reports IHS media.

Federal maritime regulators have ordered container lines and marine terminal operators in the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and New York and New Jersey to explain how they justify such charges.

The FMC's decision comes as dozens of vessels are regularly anchored in southern California, and following complaints from truckers and importers about a surge in penalties due to port congestion.

In a February 1 report, the Harbour Trucking Association (HTA) of Southern California said its members disputed more than US$3 million in detention or demurrage fees in 2020, of which 65 per cent were tied to no available appointments either to pick up a container or return empties.

Of those incurring penalties, the HTA said fines exceeded $200 per container in eight of 10 cases and surpassed $500 in two out of 10 situations.

Weston LaBar, CEO of the Harbour Trucking Association, said the decision shows the FMC is willing to go beyond interpretative rules and to hold supply chain stakeholders accountable for their decisions.

"It's time for the Federal Maritime Commission to exert more control over how our industry operates and we would probably support something more aggressive. I think this is a great step forward for the FMC," Mr LaBar said.

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA - Supply Chain Indonesia (SCI) menilai sistem terpadu yang dibangun pemerintah yaitu Supply Chain Center dapat membantu menekan biaya logistik, biaya pengadaan bahan baku, dan biaya produksi hingga inventory lebih hemat.

Chairman Supply Chain Indonesia Setijadi mengatakan keberadaan rantai pasok akan mampu mendorong penurunan harga produk usaha mikro kecil menengah (UMKM) tanpa mengabaikan kualitasnya.

"Supply Chain Center akan bantu UMKM untuk mengelola barang mereka secara efisien. Namun, Supply Chain Center ini tidak bisa didirikan tanpa dukungan berbagai pihak, seperti pemerintah lintas sektoral, industri perbankan dan pegiat UMKM," ujarnya dalam diskusi daring, Rabu (24/2/2021). Menurut Setijadi, industri jasa logistik memang berperan penting bagi kemajuan UMKM.

Pasalnya, dengan kondisi geografis Indonesia yang berpulau-pulau dan jumlah penduduk yang sangat besar, menjadikan jasa ekspedisi paling banyak dicari, terlebih di era maraknya belanja online seperti saat ini. Terkait dengan peran industri ini terhadap peningkatan UMKM, lanjutnya, perlu ada upaya khusus agar skala ekonomi UMKM bisa ditingkatkan. Jika pengiriman produk masih bersifat mandiri maka justru itulah yang menyebabkan biaya logistik mahal.

"Dengan keterbatasan volume produksi dan sebagainya yang tidak mampu memenuhi skala ekonomi, maka sulit bagi UMKM bisa berdaya saing dengan produk luar negeri. Jadi skala ekonomi harus dipecahkan sebab jika tidak bisa diselesaikan mereka akan kalah saing," ujarnya.

Lebih lanjut Setijadi menuturkan, diperlukan kolaborasi antara pihak UMKM dengan penyedia jasa logistik guna meningkatkan kelas industri tersebut. Kolaborasi yang dimaksud harus didasari dengan trust antar pihak untuk saling berbagi dan bekerja sama dalam jangka panjang secara saling menguntungkan.

"Masing-masing pihak berkontribusi dengan keunggulan atau kelebihannya untuk mencapai tujuan-tujuan yang disepakati," katanya. Dia menambahkan beberapa hal yang menjadi tantangan bagi industri logistik, di mana yang bersangkutan tidak hanya membantu dalam pengiriman bahan baku dan produk, tapi juga dalam melakukan akses.

NIGERIA will commission US$195 million worth of aircraft, boats and vehicles in the next three months to bolster security in the pirate-infested Gulf of Guinea, says Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi.

The deployment will help reduce shipowners' reliance on private security companies to protect them in the sea off Nigeria's coast, Mr Amaechi said.

These waters are the most perilous in the world for seafarers, accounting for almost all crew kidnappings by pirates in recent years, according to the International Maritime Bureau.

Said the minister: "We will have enough vessels located in the water, watching the water full time. You have aircraft watching the water, drones watching the water and all of them have the capacity to respond."

The Deep Blue Project, as the initiative is known, is coordinated by a government agency. The assets being deployed include two special mission vessels, two aircraft, two helicopters, four drones, 16 armoured vehicles and 17 fast interceptor boats.

Blue Octagon, a Herzliya, Israel-based maritime security company, was responsible for procuring the equipment, which will be operated by the security forces.

The state's increased capabilities mean ships supporting Nigeria's crucial oil industry, or importing and exporting goods, should have less need for the 200 privately owned escort vessels manned by armed naval personnel that cost $8,000-$10,000 per day, Mr Amaechi said.

Last year, the region accounted for 95 per cent of the 135 seafarers seized worldwide in 22 separate incidents, according to the IMB. Hostages are typically hidden in Nigeria's southern Niger Delta region, a dense network of creeks and swamps, while ransoms are negotiated.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari last month terminated an arrangement in place since 2014 in which a local private security company, Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd provided boats allowing the navy to patrol a so-called Secure Anchorage Area, or SAA, on the approaches to Lagos, Nigeria's biggest city and commercial hub.

Mr Amaechi had tried for several years to end the state's relationship with OMS, arguing the firm's charges per vessel of $2,500 for the first day and $1,500 per subsequent day imposed exorbitant costs on shippers.

The navy can now secure the waters around Lagos's two large commercial ports on its own, with two boats supplied by the government, he said.

Plate mengatakan, alasan penghilangan kata "wajib" untuk bekerjasama dengan perusahaan telekomunikasi yang terdapat dalam draf Peraturan Pemerintah (PP) Nomor 46 Tahun 2021 Pasal 15, adalah untuk membentuk kerjasama yang adil.

"Ini untuk membentuk kerjasama berdasarkan pada prinsip adil, wajar, non diskriminatif dan menjaga kualitas layanan," kata dia singkat saat dihubungi oleh Kontan.co.id, Selasa (23/2).

Sebagai informasi, aturan yang merupakan turunan dari UU Cipta Kerja itu tertuang dalam PP Nomor 46 Tahun 2021 tentang Pos, Telekomunikasi dan Penyiaran (Postelsiar).

Dengan dihilangkan kata "wajib" pelaku usaha OTT asing dan lokal yang menjalankan usaha di Indonesia tidak lagi wajib bekerjasama dengan perusahaan telekomunikasi lokal.

Kemenkominfo pun enggan berkomentar lebih lanjut mengenai implikasi di masa depan mengenai keputusan tersebut.

THE Chinese retail market is poised to become the first in the world to be dominated by e-commerce transactions as Chinese New Year retail sales beat expectations, reported Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.

Research firm eMarketer expects 52.1 per cent of China's total retail sales to come from e-commerce transactions in 2021, increasing from 44.8 per cent last year.

"That means that for the first time anywhere, a majority of retail sales for an entire country will transact online," said the firm.

No other country comes close to China in terms of e-commerce sales. South Korea is expected to see 28.9 per cent of its retail market based online this year, while the United States will hit 15 per cent the report said.

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Pemerintah telah menetapkan daftar positif investasi (DPI) sebagaimana tertuang dalam Peraturan Presiden (Perpres) Nomor 10 Tahun 2021 tentang Bidang Usaha Penanaman Modal.

Beleid ini mulai berlaku per tanggal 4 Maret 2021. Tujuannya untuk mendorong aliran modal investor domestik dan investor asing masuk ke dalam negeri.

Secara bersamaan, Perpres 10/2021 dengan aturan turunan Undang-Undang (UU) Nomor 11 Tahun 2020 tentang Cipta Kerja lainnya akan menciptakan iklim berinvestasi di Indonesia lebih menggiurkan.

Perpres 10/2021 menjabarkan DPI terdiri atas tiga klasifikasi. Pertama, bidang usaha prioritas dengan kriteria merupakan program/proyek strategis nasional (PSN), padat modal, padat karya, teknologi tinggi, industri pionir, orientasi ekspor, serta orientasi dalam kegiatan penelitian, pengembangan, dan inovasi.

Kedua, bidang usaha yang dialokasikan atau kemitraan dengan koperasi dan Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM). Kriterianya, kegiatan usaha yang dimaksud tidak menggunakan teknologi atau yang menggunakan teknologi sederhana.

Lalu kegiatan usaha yang memiliki kekhususan proses, bersifat padat karya, serta mempunyai warisan budaya yang bersifat turun temurun.

Dari sisi permodalan, pemerintah mematok bidang usaha tersebut tidak melebihi Rp 10 miliar di luar nilai tanah dan bangunan. Namun, jika pengusaha di level ini sudah naik kelas, maka saat melanjutkan usahanya harus merujuk kepada kentuan peraturan perundang-undangan terkait.

Ketiga, bidang usaha dengan persyaratan tertentu dan bidang usaha yang dapat diusahakan oleh semua penanaman modal, termasuk koperasi dan UMKM.

Syaratnya, penanaman modal untuk penanaman modal dalam negeri,  penanaman modal dengan pembatasan kepemilikan modal asing, dan penanaman modal dengan perizinan khusus.

Dalam hal penanaman modal asing hanya dapat melakukan kegiatan usaha pada usaha besar dengan nilai investasi lebih dari Rp 10 miliar di luar tanah dan bangunan. Tapi, investor asing tersebut harus berbentuk perseroan terbatas (PT) berdasarkan hukum Indonesia dan kedudukan di dalam wilayah Republik Indonesia.

Untuk menarik investasi ketiga klasifikasi DPI tersebut, maka pemerintah memberikan insentif fiskal berupa tax holiday, tax allowance, serta bebas bea masuk atas impor mesin serta barang dan bahan untuk pembangunan pabrik.

Tak hanya itu, insentif non fiskal juga diberikan meliputi kemudahan perizinan berusaha, penyediaan infrastruktur pendukung, jaminan ketersediaan energi dan bahan baku, keimigrasian, serta ketenagakerjaan.

Sebelumnya, Menteri Koordinator (Menko) Bidang Perekonomian Airlangga Hartarto mengatakan dengan adanya pendekatan DPI, pemerintah memberikan kepastian kepada investor, bahwa pada prinsipnya semua bidang terbuka bagi penanaman modal. Kecuali ada beberapa investasi yang dinyatakan tertutup oleh Undang-Undang (UU) atau tidak tertuang dalam lampiran Perpres 10/2021.

“Bidang usaha yang dibuka sebanyak 1.700 dengan aturan bahwa investasi di bawah Rp 10 miliar dikhususkan untuk UMKM. Sementara, untuk modal asing atau modal besar di atas Rp 10 miliar,” kata Menko Airlangga dalam acara yang bertajuk Business Challenges 2021, Selasa (26/1).

Dalam beleid tersebut pemerintah pusat akan melakukan evaluasi atas pelaksanaan penanaman modal dalam rangka meningkatkan ekosistem investasi dan kegiatan berusaha serta percepatan cipta kerja.

GLOBAL container shipping volumes only fell 1.2 per cent year on year in 2020 recovering from a 6.8 per cent drop suffered in the first half of the year, reports Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide.

Growth concentrated on a few trade lanes, with congestion and imbalances causing disruption on other trades. according to a review by the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), which declared 2021 would be an even better for container shipping.

The biggest growth recorded was on Far East to North America trade. Volumes rose 3.6 million TEU in the second half of the year, compared with the first, while volumes rose 2.1 million TEU compared with the second half of 2019. The entire year saw a growth of 1.4 million TEU.

Of all of the high-volume trades, the Far East to North America was the only one to grow over the full year. Intra-Asia and Far East to Europe growth in the second half of the year wasn't enough to make up for H1 losses.

After falling by 1.1 million TEU in the first half of the year, volumes between the two were only up by 200,000 TEU in the second half of 2020, leaving full year volumes down 5.2 per cent.

The intra-Asian trades saw a 2.2 per cent growth in the second half of the year compared to H2 2019, but it wasn't enough to recover a four per cent loss in the first half.

Meanwhile, the Indian subcontinent and Middle East exports to the Far East saw volumes increase by 115,000 TEU in H1 2020, causing it to be one of the very few trades that bucked the trend and grew in the first half of the year.

"The particularly strong recovery in demand for containerised goods in the US was driven by a rise in consumer spending, particularly on goods for the homes that people have been spending much more time in, as well as higher spending on goods as consumers were unable to spend what they usually do on services," said BIMCO chief shipping analyst Peter Sand.

"As manufacturing in consuming countries has struggled to recover to its pre-pandemic levels, imports have outgrown demand for a number of goods in order to fill the gap. This development is hugely beneficial for shipping,"

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Banjir pada Sabtu (20/2) kemarin telah merendam sejumlah wilayah di Jakarta dan sekitarnya. Banjir tersebut menghambat akses pengiriman pada bisnis sektor logistik dan sektor bisnis lainnya.

Ketua Umum Asosiasi Logistik Indonesia (ALI) Zaldy Ilham Masita menyebutkan banjir di Jakarta dan sekitarnya dinilai telah berdampak cukup parah pada pengiriman logistik.

“Terutama pengiriman e-commerce juga pengiriman ke toko-toko retail,” kata Zaldy kepada Kontan.co.id, Minggu (21/2).

Adapun, Zaldy juga belum bisa menginformasikan berapa estimasi kerugian yang di alami dari adanya banjir tersebut.

“Di tahun ini kami masih belum tahu apakah kerugiannya lebih besar dari tahun sebelumnya karena kami masih menghitung besar kerugiannya,” ujarnya.

Namun sebagai informasi, kerugian sektor logistik akibat banjir di tahun lalu di perkirakan mencapai Rp 45 miliar per harinya.

Menurutnya, dampak banjir tahun lalu terhadap sektor logistik sangat besar, apalagi jika aktivitas di Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok terganggu akibat terendam banjir. Akibatnya operasional pengiriman dalam kota dan sekitar Jakarta (Jabodetabek) bisa lumpuh.

[200221.EN.AIR] Atlas Air 2020 Results Exceed Expectations Due to Historic Volumes

 

UPSTATE New York freighter operator Atlas Air Worldwide reversed last year's 2019 loss of US$293.1 million into a 2020 net profit of $360.3 million, drawn on revenues of $3.2 billion, up 17.2 per cent year on year.

Results "exceeded expectations", thanks to "historic volumes" driven by e-commerce growth, as well as the requirements of the Covid crisis.

"We finished this unprecedented year on a strong note, with financial and operating results that exceeded our expectations," said Atlas CEO John Dietrich.

"In the face of unrelenting operational complexities driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, we added widebody capacity, increased aircraft utilisation and grew block hours to carry historic volumes, including essential goods that businesses, communities and individuals require as well as holiday e-commerce packages," he said.

"We are leveraging our unrivaled portfolio of assets and the scale of our global network. We are also continuing to diversify our customer base and have entered into numerous long-term charter agreements with strategic customers, such as Cainiao, Flexport and HP Inc. These agreements will provide reliable and attractive revenue streams for the years ahead."

Volumes during 2020 amounted to 344,821 block hours, compared with 321,140 in 2019 - a 7.4 per cent year-on-year increase.

Looking at the Atlas Air Worldwide's divisional results for full-year 2020, the charter division increased year-on-year revenues 42 per cent to $1.9 billion.

The charter division's direct contribution increased 274.7 per cent to $559.7 million last year.

But revenues in the company's ACMI division decreased by 2.9 per cent year on year, from $1.24 billion to $1.21 billion.

The ACMI division's direct contribution declined by 17.6 per cent ¡Âª from ¡Ãª218.5m to $180m.

Atlas Air Worldwide's dry leasing division saw revenues decrease by 17.7 per cent year on year, from $200.8 million to $165.2 million.

The dry leasing division also reported a 41.7 per cent year-on-year decline in direct contributions last year ¡Âª from $70.4m to $41m.

The charter division in Q4 last year achieved revenues of $559.2 million - a 54.9 per cent year-on-year increase on a year earlier.

Direct contribution for the charter division in Q4 last year was $186.3m ¡Âª a 166.8 per cent year-on-year increase on the same period in 2019.

"Higher charter segment revenue during the quarter was primarily due to an increase in flying, partially offset by a slight decrease in the average revenue per block hour due to lower fuel costs," the company said.

But revenues for the ACMI division in Q4 decreased 2.1 per cent to $337.8 million.

Meanwhile, the dry leasing division achieved revenues of $41.6 million in Q4 last year - a 4.2 per cent decline on the same period in 2019.

At $11 million, the dry leasing division's direct contribution in Q4 2020 was 6.1 per cent less than a year earlier.

Looking forward, the company said it expects to fly 85,000 block hours in the first quarter of 2021, with revenue of $820 million, and adjusted Ebitda of about $150 million.

"In addition, we expect first-quarter 2021 adjusted net income to grow 60 per cent to 65 per cent compared with adjusted net income of $29.9 million in the first quarter of 2020," Mr Dietrich said.

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Hujan lebat mengguyur Jakarta dan sekitarnya mengakibatkan banjir di beberapa wilayah sejak kemarin. PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) terus bersiaga memantau sistem kelistrikan pada daerah terdampak.

"Untuk saat ini, PLN tetap menyiagakan 72 posko yang tersebar di wilayah Jakarta, 2.371 orang personel serta menyiapkan 103 Genset, 20 UPS, 99 Unit Gardu Bergerak, 12 Unit Kendaraan Deteksi, dan 700 Unit Kendaraan Operasional pada Kondisi Siaga ini," terang General Manager PLN Unit Induk Distribusi Jakarta Raya Doddy B Pangaribuan dalam siaran pers, Sabtu (20/2).

Doddy menambahkan, pihaknya terus bekerja keras dan memantau kondisi di lapangan sejak cuaca ekstrem terjadi. Dia juga mengimbau masyarakat agar selalu waspada terhadap bahaya kelistrikan di musim hujan dan banjir.

Saat banjir mulai surut, PLN berhasil memulihkan 100% kelistrikan pada pukul 22.30 WIB. Namun, hujan lebat yang terjadi semalam menyebabkan banjir kembali melanda Jakarta.

Sampai dengan Sabtu (20/2) pukul 09.00 WIB, terdapat 180 unit Gardu Distribusi dan 61.320 pelanggan yang terdampak banjir. Sementara itu, sebanyak 39 gardu distribusi dan 14.473 pelanggan telah dinyalakan kembali.

Adapun beberapa wilayah yang terdampak di Jakarta dan Bekasi meliputi Bintara, Jatiasih, Kalimalang, Cipinang, Pondok Gede Permai, Fatmawati, Kemang, Pejaten, Warung Buncit, Kalibata, Pondok Kacang, Puri Bintari, Jatibening, Jatiwarungin, Pondok Gede, Ciledug, Petukangan, Kampung Makasar, Pinang Ranti, dan Karet Tengsin.

Doddy mengatakan, terdapat kondisi yang menyebabkan listrik kembali dinonaktifkan demi keselamatan, yaitu apabila rumah warga terendam, jaringan listrik PLN terendam, dan keduanya terendam. "PLN akan memulihkan listrik di lokasi banjir apabila semua jaringan listrik baik di sisi warga maupun PLN sudah dalam kondisi kering dan siap dialiri listrik, serta kedua belah pihak menandatangani berita acara penyalaan," kata Doddy.

PLN terus memantau perkembangan situasi di lokasi-lokasi yang terdampak maupun berpotensi banjir untuk secara sigap mengambil langkah. PLN juga terus berkoordinasi dengan pemerintah daerah setempat untuk hal tersebut.

Apabila air mulai masuk ke rumah, warga secara mandiri dapat mematikan listrik dari Mini Circuit Breaker (MCB) pada kWh meter. Selanjutnya warga bisa menghubungi PLN melalui Contact Center 123 atau melalui aplikasi PLN Mobile.

[190221.ID.SEA] INSA Usulkan Relaksasi Biaya Pelabuhan Untuk Kontainer Kosong

 

KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. Beberapa pengusaha mengklaim terjadi perlambatan ekspor akibat penurunan aktivitas kapal. Indonesian National Shipowners' Association (INSA) mengklarifikasi bahwa hal itu karena kontainer kosong.

"Mungkin yang dimaksud adalah terkendala kontainer kosong, yang memang terjadi dalam beberapa bulan belakangan ini sebagai dampak lanjutan dari kondisi Covid-19. Kalau space atau ruang kapal, bukannya tidak ada kapal melainkan freightnya yang meningkat banyak," terang Ketua Umum INSA Carmelita Hartoto kepada konta.co.id, Jumat (19/2).

Menurutnya, ini merupakan effect bola dari pelambatan arus barang karena covid-19. Karena berkurang barang yang diangkut, operator kapal otomatis mengurangi space-nya. Di sisi lain, terjadinya lockdown di beberapa negara juga membuat terjadinya kongesti, sehingga pengembalian kontainer kosong/repo terhambat.

Carmelita menjelaskan pada saat kegiatan ekonomi Tiongkok mulai pulih dari Covid-19, terjadi peningkatan permintaan space dan kontainer kapal.

"Karena demand ini tinggi, sedangkan supply kontainer terhambat, terjadi hukum ekonomi, adanya penaikan freight/biaya angkut untuk kegiatan ekspor. Hal yang sama terjadi pada kegiatan ekspor Indonesia. Apalagi, pandemi ini juga berdampak pada penurunan volume impor Indonesia," jabarnya.

Sayang, ia tak merincikan terkait besaran peningkatan biayanya. Hanya saja, menurutnya dinamika tersebut memang sudah sering terjadi didalam dunia shipping.

"Masih segar kan dalam ingatan kita semua, beberapa tahun yang lalu terjadinya market global shipping yang depress. Di mana banyak perusahaan yg harus bankcrupt seperti Hanjin dan beberapa perusahaan kapal harus merger atau diakuisisi untuk bisa tetap survive," lanjutnya.

Carmelita memperkirakan kondisi ini paling cepat dampaknya berakhir di kuartal I-2021 sampai adanya keseimbangan kegiatan perdangan dunia. Untuk itu, pihaknya juga beberapa kali telah mengusulkan kepada pemerintah untuk memecahkan masalah ini, sehingga eksportir tidak terkendala dalam kegiatan ekspornya.

"Beberapa usulan kami misalnya, eksportir lakukan long term forecast, pemberian fasilitas mempersingkat waktu freetime demurrage untuk peti kemas impor, perubahan tipe kontainer untuk ekspor dan relaksasi biaya pelabuhan untuk repo kontainer kosong, serta mempercepat proses hukum pada kontainer-kontainer yang tertahan kasus hukum," tutupnya.

[180221.EN.SEA] Shipping Industry Pioneer Christos N Kritikos Dies At 95

 

THE shipping industry has lost one of its pioneers from the golden era of containerisation, as Christos N Kritikos passed away on January 31 at home with his family at his side, reports the American Journal of Transportation.

Mr Kritikos died at 95. Born in Greece on the island of Andros, Mr Kritikos was raised in Athens before arriving in the US in 1947 after World War II as a merchant marine.

He found a job working for an east coast stevedore in 1954, moving to Chicago to start his own stevedoring company.

The late 1950s was a time when the St Lawrence Seaway was opening up, as it presented a lucrative business opportunity. Mr Kritikos recognised the potential, where he founded Ceres Terminals Incorporated.

After opening in 1959, Ceres picked up over 50 per cent of the total grain volume in Chicago. Ceres expanded to Duluth, Milwaukee and Toledo. By 1962, Ceres opened a Canadian operation at Montreal and quickly became one of its largest stevedoring companies.

In 1979, Ceres expanded to the Port of Baltimore with the company expanding to Hampton Roads, Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans and Houston shortly after.

Ceres became a container operator in Montreal Atlantic Container Line as its first container customer. Ceres also signed a 20 year lease with the Halifax Port Authority and secured 55 per cent of the ports volume in the first year of operation.

Mr Kritikos moved the corporate headquarters from Chicago to Weehawken, New Jersey in 1988 so he could be closer to his customers.

Ceres continued to expand internationally, and was purchased by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) in 2002.

"Our industry has lost one of its most memorable and unique individuals. He was a colorful soul full of ambition and drive and the nerve to pull his vision off. Using his progressive vision and outsized personality, Chris built a small Chicago-based start- up company into one of the leading stevedoring and terminal operators in North America. His is a true American success story. The industry will miss him," said past Ceres Terminals CEO Thomas Simmers.

Ferrari NV mengumumkan bahwa Roberto Cingolani menyampaikan kepada perseroan pengunduran dirinya dari jabatannya sebagai direktur non-eksekutif perseroan dan anggota Komite Tata Kelola dan Keberlanjutan Dewan Direksi terhitung sejak 13 Februari 2021 ketika ia diangkat menjadi Menteri Pemerintah Italia yang baru.

Roberto Cingolani lahir pada 23 Desember 1961. Ia adalah seorang fisikawan dan guru Italia. Sejak September 2019, ia menjadi petugas teknologi dan inovasi di Leonardo S.p.A., sebelumnya ia adalah direktur ilmiah di Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia di Genoa pada 2005 hingga 2019.

Pada 27 Juni 2019 ia ditunjuk sebagai Chief Technology and Innovation Officer dari perusahaan sektor pertahanan dan kedirgantaraan Leonardo S.p.A., mulai beroperasi sejak 1 September 2019.

Pada 13 Februari 2021, ia diangkat sebagai Menteri Transisi Ekologi dalam kabinet Draghi.

DENMARK it will strengthen its defence capabilities in the Arctic, including long-range drones and radars, as shrinking sea ice has made the region more accessible. Reuters reports.

The move comes as both Russia has been building up its own military capabilities in the region, and China has become active though Denmark and other Arctic nations have also tried in recent decades to keep the region what they call a "low tension" area.

Lawmakers in the Nordic country agreed to spend half of the allocated US$245 million on drones to improve surveillance in Greenland, a semi-autonomous part of Denmark.

Nearly 400 million will be spend on an air surveillance radar in the Faroe Islands located in the North Atlantic.

"We have seen an increase in foreign activities in the Arctic and the North Atlantic," Defence Minister Trine Bramsen said in statement.

"We need better surveillance and presence in the region - not to escalate conflicts, but because we need to take the threats seriously," she said.

The United States also has increased focus on the Arctic and Greenland in recent years. Former president Donald Trump offered in 2019 to buy Greenland, the world largest island, from Denmark.

The US bought the US Virgin Island from Denmark in 1917 for $587.39 million in 2019 dollars.

NATO-member Denmark currently has one aircraft, four helicopters and four ships to monitor the vast area. In addition to enforcing sovereignty, they handle fishing inspection and search-and-rescue operations. Six sleds powered by 80 dogs patrol the remote northeastern part.
