[190411.EN.SEA] BLT Blames Computer

Singapore: A severe technical glitch has caused Indonesia-based Berlian Laju Tanker (BLT) to delay the announcement of its full year results by eight weeks, the company informed the exchange on Saturday.

The Singapore-listed firm said its computer system crash and corrupted data files in its accounting systems, specifically on the inventory and bunker consumption sub-systems.

“Though the company has back-ups for its systems, it was unable to restore the data as the computer crash also affected the backed-up data. To resolve the matter as soon as possible, the company is rebuilding its database by re-inputting all 2010 transactions related to these sub-systems,” BLT said.

The rebuilding process is expected to be completed within six weeks. Including consolidation and verification by BLT's auditor, the company expects to release its audited full year results for 2010 within eight weeks from 16 April.
