FEDEX Express has
officially opened its new international express and cargo hub at Shanghai
Pudong International Airport to connect customers in eastern China to
overseas markets, particularly those shipping to the US and Europe.
The 134,000-square-metre hub is the largest of its kind at that
airport. The new facility applies cutting-edge technologies to enhance the
operations of its customer care centre and cold chain facilities to serve the
healthcare industry, one of the fastest growing sectors in Asia Pacific.
The cold chain centre is equipped
with temperature controlled storage ranging from minus 22 degrees Celsius to 25
degrees Celsius and offers cold chain logistics solutions tailored to
different healthcare products such as medicines, semi-finished medicines and
pharmaceuticals.
"The Asia Pacific region
remains the growth driver of the world," said FedEx Express CEO David
Cunningham.
