[291113.EN.SEA] NOL Denies Involvement In European Commission's Liner Antitrust Probe

SINGAPORE'S Nepture Orient Lines (NOL) says that neither itself, nor its container shipping arm, APL, are subject to the latest antitrust investigation by the European Commission.

"APL and its parent company NOL are not the subject of the antitrust proceedings announced by the European Commission on November 22. We have no other information regarding this matter," said the NOL statement emailed to London's Containerisation International.

Meanwhile, Evergreen said it had received notice from the commission that it is among the shipping lines facing a "formal investigation pertaining to the announcement of intended rate increases".

NOL's offices were raided in 2011, along with those of 11 other shipping lines. Those raided in 2011 were Maersk Line, MSC, CMA CGM, Evergreen, Cosco, Hapag-Lloyd, Hanjin, MOL, OOCL, Hamburg Sud and NYK.
