SEASPAN has placed an order for four
more 10,000 TEU vessels from shipyards belonging to Singapore-listed but
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, after activating existing options, with delivery
scheduled for 2016.
The ships will be built near Shanghai, at Jiangsu New Yangxi Shipbuilding and Jiangsu Yangxi Xinfu Shipbuilding.
The company said it "expects to sign long-term time charters for these vessels with one of the major container liner companies in the near future.
The new orders bring the number of newbuildings that the company has on order to 34, according to Clarksons.
