Singapore: Four VLCC owners
have come together to form a new pool to go into operation in early February.
The new VLCC pool, named
Nova Tankers, is an alliance of AP Moller-Maersk/Maersk Tankers, Samco
Shipholding, Ocean Tankers and MOL/Phoenix Tankers.
Nova Tankers aims to control
a combined fleet of around 50 oil tankers by the end of this year.
Morten Pilnov, head of gas
for Maersk Tankers, will be the managing director for Nova Tankers. Kazunori
Nakai, executive officer of MOL, will take up the position as chairman of the
pool management company.
