MAERSK's standalone forwarder Damco has unveiled its expanded southern Vietnam Logistics Centre in Binh Duong Province, just north of Ho Chi Minh City, the company announced.
Now covering 37,150-square metres and 141 loading bays, and incorporating state-of-the-art facilities, this C-TPAT certified multi-purpose warehouse is a pillar of a multi-year capacity expansion plan.
Together with the recent development of the Haiphong warehouse in North Vietnam to 11,500-square metre, Damco Vietnam's warehouse capacity now stands at an impressive 73,000 square metres across five sites.
The company's growing contract logistics operation has over 25,000 square metres of space to serve industrial, retail, fashion and chemical customers.
The new container freight consolidation facility is equipped with a High Jump CFS management system, RF scanning, a sprinkler system and a digital CCTV system.
It also incorporates a quality control room and an on-site customs office, supported by a dedicated country management team which works closely with other Damco teams in origin and destination countries.
"In preparation for upcoming strong economic growth, Damco Vietnam has invested to upgrade capacity north and south," said Damco regional manager Marco Civardi.
"We are now able to perform new value added activities. Noteworthy is the acquisition of our bonded licence capability in Haiphong and the possibility to perform activities such as metal detection, CNI (Certificate of No Impediment) and inner carton checking within our Ho Chi Minh facility," he said.
Damco provides services in 300 in 100 countries and employs 11,000 people. In 2015, Damco generated revenues of US$2.74 billion, managed 2.9 million TEU of ocean freight and supply chain management volumes and air-freighted 180 thousand tonnes.
