[050315.EN.SEA] MM Lines Quits Indonesia-Western Australia Service, Citing Poor Volumes

SINGAPORE-based MM (Meratus Mandiri) Line has withdrawn from the South East Asia-Western Australian trade to focus instead resources on Indonesia's trade within the Asian region.

MM Line's parent company, Surabaya-based PT Meratus Line, made the decision because of diminishing liner breakbulk volumes, including project cargo, as well as falling container throughput, the company said.

"As part of this realignment the company will pay stronger attention to Indonesian growth and development opportunities where it already has a competitive advantage," said the company statement.

"We would like to thank all customers and supply partners for your support and co-operations with MM Line during the past three years," said the notice to trade signed by PT Meratus CEO Charles Menaro and MM Line chief operations officer Ulrich Stelling.
