Bibby Distribution has acquired part of warehouse management system developer Data Driven Software to further enhance its network of warehousing facilities nationwide.
The move will increase the development team, which will be located in a new facility in Stafford, and give the company the flexibility to develop new innovations in warehousing technology, and enter the software market to provide IT solutions to third parties.
IT Director Robert Lee said that Bibby has, for some years, been deploying Data Driven Software's Claws 2 product under a strategic agreement with the development staff under long-term contract.
This is the part of Data Driven Software's business that Bibby has now acquired.
The deal secures long-term commitment to the solution, protects Bibby Distribution's investment to date and ensures the essential technical skills are available in-house.
All external support contracts will now revert to one IT team based at Liverpool head office.
